Student-only platform

Only verified university students can create accounts and use StudyPals.

Safe community

We enforce strict guidelines to maintain a respectful, harassment-free environment.

Fair use

Use StudyPals for its intended purpose: finding study partners and academic collaboration.

Zero tolerance

Harassment, spam, or misuse of the platform results in immediate account termination.

Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using StudyPals ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access the Platform.

Eligibility

To use StudyPals, you must:

  • • Be enrolled as a student at a recognized university or college
  • • Provide and verify a valid university email address
  • • Be at least 16 years of age
  • • Agree to use the Platform for academic collaboration only

Important: University verification required

You must verify your university email address to access the Platform. Providing false information or using someone else's credentials will result in immediate account termination.

Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • • Account security: Maintaining the confidentiality of your password
  • • Accurate information: Providing truthful profile information (name, program, courses)
  • • Your activity: All actions taken through your account
  • • Notification: Alerting us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

Acceptable Use Policy

StudyPals is designed exclusively for finding study partners and facilitating academic collaboration. You agree to use the Platform in a respectful, lawful manner.

You MAY use StudyPals to:

  • ✓ Find students in your courses to study with
  • ✓ Coordinate study sessions and share availability
  • ✓ Communicate about coursework and academic topics
  • ✓ Form study groups for shared courses

You may NOT use StudyPals to:

  • ✗ Harass, bully, or intimidate other students
  • ✗ Share or solicit academic dishonesty (cheating, plagiarism)
  • ✗ Post spam, advertisements, or promotional content
  • ✗ Use the Platform for dating or non-academic purposes
  • ✗ Share inappropriate, offensive, or discriminatory content
  • ✗ Impersonate others or create fake profiles
  • ✗ Scrape, collect, or harvest user data
  • ✗ Attempt to circumvent security measures or access restrictions

Zero tolerance policy

Harassment, hate speech, academic dishonesty, or any violation of our community standards will result in immediate and permanent account termination without warning.

Academic Integrity

StudyPals is a tool for collaborative learning, not academic dishonesty. You are responsible for understanding and following your university's academic integrity policies.

Using StudyPals to cheat, plagiarize, or violate your university's honor code is strictly prohibited and may result in:

  • • Immediate account termination
  • • Reporting to your university administration
  • • Legal action if applicable

Content Ownership

Your content

You retain ownership of any content you post (messages, profile information, etc.). By posting content on StudyPals, you grant us a limited license to display, store, and distribute that content as necessary to operate the Platform.

Our content

All design, code, logos, and branding on StudyPals are owned by StudyPals.ca. You may not copy, reproduce, or redistribute any part of our Platform without permission.

Termination

We reserve the right to:

  • • Suspend or terminate your account at any time for violating these Terms
  • • Remove content that violates our policies
  • • Ban users who engage in harassment, spam, or prohibited activities
  • • Refuse service to anyone for any reason

You may terminate your account at any time through your account settings or by emailing us at info@studypals.ca.

Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

StudyPals is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We make no guarantees about:

  • • The quality of matches or study partners
  • • Uninterrupted or error-free service
  • • The accuracy of user-provided information
  • • Academic outcomes or performance improvements

We are not responsible for:

  • • Interactions between users outside the Platform
  • • Actions taken by other students you match with
  • • Academic performance or grades
  • • Loss of data due to technical issues

To the fullest extent permitted by law, StudyPals.ca and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform.

Dispute Resolution

If you have a dispute with another user, we encourage you to resolve it directly. If you have a dispute with StudyPals, please contact us at info@studypals.ca and we'll work to resolve it informally.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Quebec, Canada. Any legal action must be brought in the courts of Montreal, Quebec.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you via email or a prominent notice on the Platform. Your continued use of StudyPals after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
